Pekanbaru, 16 October 2024 - Riau University (UNRI) through the Student Organisation Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) continues to strengthen its contribution to community empowerment. One proof of this is the visitation of the PPK Ormawa Program of the UNRI Government Science Student Association (Himip) which was held on 16 October 2024. This activity was attended by representatives of Belmawa, Ministry of Education and Culture Ristek, namely Mr Arif Pangaribowo as a companion team, and Dr. Sahran Saputra, M.Sos as a review team.

This visitation aims to evaluate the development and implementation of the Himip UNRI PPK Ormawa programme, especially the Bertuah Literacy Corner initiative which covers five areas: politics, education, digital, economy and health. The head of Himip UNRI's PPK Ormawa team, Gilang Arihta Ginting, said that the literacy corners were initiated based on social problems faced by the local community, with various targets.

On this occasion, Dr. Sahran Saputra directly reviewed the development of each Bertuah Literacy Corner by having a dialogue with the target group in Pagaruyung Village.

Bertuah Government Political Literacy Corner (Pobu)
The Head of Pagaruyung Village, Mr Dyka Kelana, as a participant of the Pobu Corner, reported that 7-8 meetings had been held which included education related to public information disclosure, political socialisation, and other government issues. According to him, this activity is very useful for village officials in carrying out their daily tasks.

Bertuah Education Literacy Corner (Pebu)
Mrs Rika Darmayanti, S.Pd., a teacher at SDN 018 Pagaruyung Village, said that the literacy programme conducted by PPK Ormawa students was very helpful for teachers. Creative learning media, such as the snakes and ladders game used as an educational tool, can improve students' literacy and cognitive skills.

Bertuah Digital Literacy Corner (Dibu)
Farhan, a youth representative from Pagaruyung Village, admitted that programmes such as hoax education and Microsoft Word training were very helpful for the village youth. ‘We are greatly helped by this training because it can improve our skills in the digital era,’ he said.

Bertuah Economic Literacy Corner (Ebu)
MSME players in Pagaruyung Village also benefited from the presence of PPK Ormawa students. They are assisted in expanding product marketing through the creation of e-commerce accounts and business legality arrangements with the Business Identification Number (NIB). This allows them to reach a wider market and increase the scale of their business.

Bertuah Environmental Health Literacy Corner (Kelibu)
The Chairperson of the Pagaruyung Village PKK, Mrs Rossi Kelana, said that PPK Ormawa's health programmes such as education on Clean and Healthy Living Behaviour (PHBS), and the creation of the CAS (Smart, Safe, Healthy) Park, were very much in line with the PKK's work programme. ‘We feel very helped by the synergy of this programme,’ she said.

This visitation was also attended by the Vice Dean III of FISIP UNRI, Dr. Saiman Pakpahan, S.IP., M.Si; PJ PPK Ormawa UNRI, Mr Imam; and Supervisor of PPK Ormawa Himip UNRI, Mrs Rury Febrina, S.IP., M.Si.
