Pekanbaru, March 10, 2025 – Students of the Government Science Study Program at the University of Riau (UNRI) showed their concern for the humanitarian crisis that occurred in Palestine. In collaboration with the Al-Aqsho Lovers community, the students carried out a fundraising action aimed at helping the Palestinian community affected by the conflict.

This activity took place on Monday, March 10, 2025, and was centered on the FISIP UNRI campus. Not only on campus, Government Science students also took to the streets to raise funds directly at several strategic points in the city of Pekanbaru. This action on the street received a positive response from the community who also made donations.

This fundraising succeeded in attracting the attention of the academic community, including students from various study programs as well as lecturers and campus staff.

This humanitarian action was initiated by Sofyan Hadi, S.Sos, M.Si, one of the lecturers of Government Science UNRI, who actively guided and accompanied students in these social activities. According to Sofyan Hadi, this activity is not only a form of solidarity with the Palestinian people, but also as a form of implementation of human values and global concern that must be possessed by Government Science students.

"Government Science students must be sensitive to global issues, especially those related to humanity. We want to foster empathy as well as provide concrete actions that can ease the burden of our brothers and sisters in Palestine," said Sofyan.

Through cooperation with Al-Aqsho Lovers, the proceeds of the fundraising will be channeled directly to the needs of Palestinian infaq, including food aid, medicines, and other emergency needs.

This activity is expected to be able to build student awareness of the importance of international solidarity and real contributions in efforts to overcome humanitarian crises.
